International Adoptions
HOPE has helped singles and couples adopt children from 48 different countries!
How?
Through a cooperating, US-based international child-finding agency.
Choosing to adopt internationally through HOPE means, literally, the world is open to you. We don't "re-invent the wheel" by developing a handful of our own international connections when there are already hundreds of reliable intermediary agencies out there from which to choose. Your social worker and other HOPE staff can help direct you to child-finding agencies that best fit your needs.
Once you decide on an international agency and program, that agency will work closely with you and with HOPE to help you apply with that country, to find the type of child you are seeking, to usher the child's documents through the approval process and to facilitate travel so your child can come home.
HOPE works with you from beginning to end as your "home study" agency by assisting with whatever we need to provide for your international dossier, helping you obtain the INS and state approvals and complying with post placement requirements particular to that country.
HOPE works through Holt International Children's Services, a well-established, Oregon-based agency that works with many international programs. HOPE has been designated as a local cooperating agency for Holt for those clients who wish to adopt through Holt and live in Minnesota or northwestern Wisconsin. Details of Holt's current programs are available on Holt's web site, www.holtintl.org.
Through an independent intermediary of choice.
HOPE has helped many families bring relatives to this country for the purpose of adoption. The child must satisfy the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service's definition of an orphan. Additionally, you should secure the services of someone in the child's country of origin who is knowledgeable about that country's and region's court requirements for overseas adoption. If you are facing this situation, we welcome your phone call to discuss the details.
HOPE also has helped families adopt through very specialized programs in other countries that work only with a select few individuals of that ethnic background, families adopting from countries under United States jurisdiction and many other unusual situations.
Through the Philippines.
HOPE is approved by the Inter Country Adoption Board (ICAB) of the Philippines to coordinate adoptions from the Philippines. This means that families who use HOPE for their adoptive home study services need not contract with another intermediary child-finding agency, but may receive all services directly through HOPE. This economical program costs only $5,000 for coordination services.
Through India.
HOPE is an approved agency authorized by the Government of India's Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA) to provide adoption preparation, adoptive home studies and other dossier documentation to families planning to adopt from India. Most often, this involves preparation of a "Sponsoring Letter" and accompanying documents. If you live in Minnesota or Wisconsin, are already working with a home study agency and need only an India-approved agency to function as a "Sponsoring Agency," contact us to discuss how we might assist you.
